Abnova Ecological Solutions’ knowledge of ecological and environmental issues coupled with our quantitative and technical skills allow us to provide expert ESG Consulting focused on both Environment and Governance. While reclamation and restoration have traditionally been viewed from a compliance lens, they’re often tools which are capable of increasing biodiversity, enhancing net primary productivity, and improving soil carbon. To provide environment benefits for ESG, we provide a roadmap from you’re starting point to where you need to go, and quantify improvements along the way. For governance, we use our data management skills, monitoring, and reporting techniques to provide transparent, easy to interpret data to our clients and other stakeholders. Ultimately, this leads to cost savings and informed decision making — and, often times, ties directly back into the environment. For example, improving decision making on where, when, and how to treat invasive weeds has shown to save an individual operating company upwards of $200k on an annual basis, while reducing chemical herbicide application (a good thing for biodiversity and the environment).
Baseline Studies & Benchmarking
Abnova Ecological Solutions works with clients to understand where they are at related to environmental practices and performance. Since it is essential for tracking future progress, our first step is quantifying a baseline. From here, we can better understand company values and select a suite of environmental issues to address. We then create a benchmark system to allow our clients the ability to quantify & assess their performance while helping to continuously improve their environmental practices.
Developing Plans to Improve Environmental Practices
We aim to link our plans to improve our clients' Environmental goals to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. After developing a baseline and setting long- and short-term benchmarks, we work with our clients to identify low-hanging fruit and benchmarks which are easily obtainable along the way. This keeps company morale high and while being reminded that there is light at the end of the tunnel as we help create a culture fit to achieve long-term goals. Our plans are typically aimed to work from the top-down and the bottom-up -- meaning overarching company goals can often be reached with collaboration of individual members doing their part.
